On Wednesday (June 9), Mamata Banerjee called on the state secretariat to form an anti-Modi 'Third Front' at the all-India level to bring down the Modi government.
At the same time, the Chief Minister also expressed his anger against the central government for opposing Modi's vaccine policy and farmers' law. Mamata claimed that the Modi government had failed in everything from industry to agriculture in India.
Rakesh Tikayet, a leader of the Delhi-based Krishak Andolan, and his team met the Chief Minister in Navanne on Wednesday afternoon. The farmers' leaders talked to Mamata about the repeal of the agricultural law. Later, the peasant leaders addressed Mamata and said, "Mamata, you have saved Bengal from the hands of the BJP. This time you have to save the country."
Basically, Mamata Banerjee has been supporting the peasant movement in India from the very beginning. The Chief Minister said that the country will not survive if the farmers do not survive. I will stand by this movement till the demands of the farmers are met. The Modi government must be ousted this time. That is our goal now. That is why I will talk to the anti-Modi state chief ministers. I will discuss what can be done by forming an alliance again. If necessary, a virtual meeting can be held in the event of an epidemic.
At the same time, for those who used to join the BJP during Vajpayee's tenure, Mamata said, "Those who were and still are the old men of the BJP who saw Modi and left the BJP." I am appealing to them to come back again. Together we have to save the country.
This is not Mamata's first attempt. Even before the Lok Sabha polls in India in 2019, Mamata was in charge of forming an anti-BJP alliance. The United India Valley, or Third Front, was formed in the presence of leaders of anti-Modi political parties at the Seba's Brigade Ground in Kolkata. Nevertheless, the BJP came to power alone for the second time, defeating the Congress and the Third Front.
As a result, even though it was not successful for the first time, Mamata announced it for the second time with no hope?
According to political analysts, this year's election in West Bengal was Modi versus Mamata. Modi Bahini jumped with all his might to win the Bengal Assembly polls. Despite that, the Trinamool leader has got success. Mamata's victory has come as a shock to the entire BJP, including Modi-Shah. Since then, anti-Modi political parties have started believing that Mamata Banerjee is the only worthy opponent of Modi. That is why the anti-Modi political parties are in favor of fighting Mamata Banerjee as the Prime Minister in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections in India. This position of the opposition is not unknown to Mamata either. So without delay, Mamata Banerjee called for a third front.
But some political analysts also think that everything will depend on the upcoming Uttar Pradesh elections. Assembly elections in the state in 2022. The Modi-Yogi conflict has already started coming to light there. Mamata's third front could be much more successful if the BJP falls there in the polls.
